DRUGSTORE PICKS: CONTOUR KITS

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me about contouring..........

I would be rich.

Not like Oprah-rich.....more like, Oprah's-best-friend's-personal-assistant-rich.

The reality is, without contouring, my face would look like a tupperware bowl. And that's putting it nicely. It makes you look thinner, it makes you look brighter and it makes you look all around BETTER. Amidst the THOUSANDS of contouring videos online that show you anywhere from 3 to 19 steps to the perfect contour, I took my shot at a SIMPLE powder contour video that should take you no longer than 3 minutes in the morning. (Scroll up to the top of this page and click the RED Youtube link in the social bar on the right. :) I sincerely believe that your daily contour should not take more than 3 minutes. Cream contour kits produce beautiful results, however are VERY unecessary for daily use unless you want to spend a large chunk of time blending everything. And I don't. Sorry, too sleepy and too much to do.

Matte contour powders blend easily, layer easily and are all around so much more user-friendly. So not only is that what I recommend to most chicks, but that's what I used to shoot my Drugstore Contour Vid. (Matte powder for contour....illuminating and brighter powders for Highlighting.) Without further ado, let's get to it.

1. Maybelline Master Contour Kit

The stats/claims: Three-in-one contour/highlighting kit containing a dark powder, a medium blush and a highlight powder. Defines and highlights easily and quickly. Comes in 2 shades: 1. Light-to-Medium and 2. Medium-to-Deep.

The verdict: LOVE. It does all that it is supposed to and WELL. Rivals the Dept. store kits that are $30-40. And most contour kits don't come with a blush included and I LOVE that Maybelline included a really versatlie shade. It was easy to apply all three powders very subtly, but build it and make it more dramatic as desired. Soft and subtle, bold and dramatic or somwhere in between are all acheivable with this kit. Loved it so hard. The ONLY person that this kit isn't awesome for, is someone VERY fair. Like Twilight-fair. The darker shade may be way too dark for you. To which, the kit below will be perfect for you. Retails for $10-12.

2. Loreal Infallible Pro-Contour Palette

The stats/claims: Almost exactly the same stats as above, minus the blush. A two-in-one Contour and highlighting palette that is user friendly, buildable and fade-free.

The verdict: Love this one too. Truly. I actually REALLY like the "bronzer" shade in this kit because it's a little less warm (orangey) and more cool (soft brownish,) and matte which makes your contour look far more natural and not so Jersey-Shore. The highlight shade is a GORG gold color and perfect for a subtle or dramatic highlight that lasts. This palette is great for everyone, just doesn't contain a blush like the one above. Retails for $12-13.

Super into both of these for different reasons. If you're married to your current blush and can't break away from it, then try #2! If you're for a solid three-in-one kit, go for #1! Either way, they're a simple way to contour and very user friendly.

Try it, love it, tag me and SHARE this post!!
